Jessica became one our incredible volunteers by first coming to HEEFS for a tour…and never wanting to leave!

These are the five principles that guide us at the sanctuary everyday with everything we do. They are also the reason why I chose to work at HEEFS and the reason why so many volunteers choose to join our family and grow with us.

As with many of our volunteers, Theresa was newly retired and was looking for a challenging and fulfilling way to spend her newfound leisure time. Having a strong love for animals her whole life, Theresa was naturally drawn to volunteering at an animal sanctuary.

As a magician, I know all about magic. In fact, I know so much about magic that the “magic” of it is gone for me. Once you know the principles of magic, it spoils it. But, the magic of kindness is completely different.

If there is one thing we’re NEVER short of at HEEFS, it’s poop! Just from our pigs, horse, donkey, goats, sheep, cows and rabbits, our residents generate an enormous pile of poop – almost 200,000 pounds or 90,000 kg per year!
